Impact on the environment

Conducting business in an ecologically sustainable way is an integral part of our Company’s mission. That is why we constantly take care that in all stages of our product development, we identify and monitor any activity that can have a negative impact on the environment. In order to achieve this, we define long-term objectives, set programmes and use tools dedicated to this.

Emissions

Our Company is an important element in the supply chain of global business potentates operating in the detergents, personal care products and cosmetics trade. Individual quality standards and requirements, pricing policy and delivery conditions are often key areas of cooperation with customers. Companies operating in the chemical trade also consider best strategy to conduct economically viable business in accordance with minimal negative effect on natural environment and with positive relations within the social environment.

Our involvement in environmental and social projects allows us to measure, plan and supervise our environmental impact. In this way, we have the chance to obtain an external assessment made by international, prestigious business, scientific, ecological and social teams that ensures best practices.

OUR ACTIONS

By participating in the international Carbon Disclosure Project, we participate in the fight against climate change. One of the prestigious initiatives in this area is the widely understood reporting of greenhouse gas emissions and the implementation of actions to reduce them.

In implementing the assumptions of the Carbon Disclosure Project, we are obliged to prepare a detailed annual emission report. Herein, our balance sheet is assessed according to criteria such as the quality and comprehensiveness of data or the effectiveness of actions in putting into place emission reduction measures in particular areas of the Company’s operations.

Since 2016, emission reports submitted in accordance with the guidelines of the GHG (Greenhouse Gas Protocol), are assessed only according to a letter scale from A to F. The reports submitted by our Company have been assessed very well by an international group of auditors, and we have obtained a high assessment – B. Taking into account the fact that the average assessment in the Supply Chain is D, our company has, indeed, achieved a very good result, thus maintaining its position of one of the best assessed companies in Europe and in the world. The reporting data submitted to CDP in 2016 was related to activity in the year 2015.

*CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project) is a global non-profit organisation working with investors and companies, which supports the development of a sustainable economy, climate change prevention and resource conservation.
*GHG Protocol (Greenhouse Protocol) - a tool developed by the World Resources Institute and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development. It is used for the accounting of greenhouse gas emissions.

Our long-term obligations in terms of emissions:
We plan on reducing our current carbon emissions by 15% as of 2020.

The main source of CO₂ emissions in our Company is in the production area, as this uses significant amounts of electricity and thermal energy in its technological processes. The level of CO₂ emissions from this source oscillates around 70% of the total CO₂ emission. Another 30% are emissions from external and internal transportation. Emissions from administrative activities are marginal and mainly related to the consumption of social media.

Greenhouse gas emissions

When reporting on the international CDP platform, we are obliged to inform on our annual progress in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The planned level of reduction was developed on the basis of identified emission sources and the company’s activity. Our key objective includes reductions in areas such as electricity consumption and thermal energy consumption in our production processes and the means of transportation used. The objectives are achieved through, among others, the implementation of appropriate management systems and the implementation of best internal energy management procedures.

Greenhouse gas emissions broken down by sphere

* Emissions from Sphere 1: GHG emissions directly from facilities and/or vehicles belonging to the reporting enterprise
*Emissions from Sphere 2: GHG emissions from the energy consumption of the reporting enterprise (including heating and cooling energy) and produced by third parties.

Greenhouse gas emissions

As part of the Carbon Disclosure Project, we monitor the level of CO₂ emission related to transportation. Every year we make an emission inventory, including that related to transportation in the whole cycle of purchases, production and sales. The scope of our analysis covers areas related to the transportation of raw materials and materials for production, as well as the transportation of manufactured products and internal transportation.

With regard to other types of pollutants, we are gradually striving to reduce their release and to comply with the conditions of all permissions and provisions regulating the emission of pollutants into the air.
